I got a notification on LinkedIn and begrudgingly opened the app like I usually do to see if a real person messaged me or it was just another spam recruiter. Like every other app, it has a social network feed that it throws you into immediately on the app opening. Well I saw a post right at the top of my feed that truly puzzled and angered me. And it got me thinking about what a cesspool this "social network" is. And that got me thinking about AI and the "ART AND DESIGN" that it claims to be able to make.

LinkedIn is home to the fakest and scummiest people on the planet. All money hungry and obsessed with serving their owners and the owners serving the dollar. And now with AI models being so accessible, the amount of AI cum guzzling is staggering. When I say AI I mean the new way that it is being used not the traditional (if you can call it that) way it has been used. "AI" before 2023 was just an algorithm that recognized patterns and provided a specialized output using that data. Like the magic selection tool in photoshop or automatic playlists on spotify, etc. Helpful and harmless. NOW THO! All the "AI" that is being talked about are the large language models(LLMs) that are "able to do anything and everything" with no thinking from the user needed. It's every big companies dream really. No workers just a computer with one program that just has a text box that you can type anything into and the result pops out in seconds... Except that part still doesn't exist unlike what is being claimed. The output isn't amazing or great or good or ok, but the most mediocre uninspired piece of shit you will ever see. That's the nature of the technology. It spits out the average of its inputs. It's not thinking. AI IS NOT THINKING. It is guessing and approximating using the inputs it was given. That goes for writing, images, video and whatever else that is generated and immediately used. This is the dream for the corporate lazy fucks but will inevitably be looked back on as a major shortsighted decision that will ruin many established companies. The human touch cannot be replicated. Not now and probably not ever. Before there were the boring and uninspired corporate design trends. This was bad and it was boring but at least it took some sort of skill and we got some great ads and art from this era. But now slowly many companies are moving to using AI art or AI integrations into their products and companies. It is so sad because unlike every other period of advancement this one is attacking artists and designers. The only plus side of this situation is the fact that it is easier than ever to know who to avoid and who doesn't care because they will have AI plastered from floor to ceiling as its next big thing. (Looking at you Apple)

Look at this post. Really look at it and read that caption. Tell me this doesn't make your blood boil. We went from rubbing sticks together to the moon and now the thing that people are hyped about is THIS SHIT???? This buffoon just typed into ChatGPT "bunk bed with engineering work station underneath. Cartoon style. " and then had the audacity to post it online as an almost badge of honor glorifying it and sharing this AI brain virus with the rest of us. To top it all off he wants to "implement????" this for engineers to stay at work in perpetuity. A place they can sleep and work. WHAT THE FUCK???? I MEAN SERIOUSLY THIS IS THE MOST BATSHIT FUCKED UP INSANE ASININE THING I HAVE EVER SEEN AND READ IN MY LIFE........ AND HE POSTED IT ON THE INTERNET FOR PEOPLE TO SEE.......I truly hope that I am not alone in thinking this because this is insane to the highest degree. So I would like to say fuck you to this guy and fuck you to the 184 likes and fuck you to the 7 reposts and fuck you to all the 21 comments that are encouraging this behavior. Its just crazy, It has to be rage bait or something? Maybe this is a big joke that I am not in on and honestly I hope that is the case because wtf....

Art and ideas and the execution of these ideas are intrinsically human and the main thing we have that's different from other species. All species evolve to better themselves and survive. That's built into our DNA. But thoughts and ideas and art is human and no other thing in the universe (that we know of) can do that besides us. Why are we trying to automate that. I have yet to hear a compelling argument. We should be automating the tedious boring tasks to free up time to MAKE ART not the other way around. Instead of learning how to draw or paint or think creatively the future generations will be taught "prompt engineering" or whatever the fuck they are calling it. We really are teaching people how to type a prompt into a LLM model...why? just why? That is tedious and boring. And that leads me to why I think art is being used to push AI. OpenAI and every other company like them needed something low stakes and flashy and cool and hip to be the face of why this new technology is important. After text, images were a natural next step. Idk its all very very sad to me.

In all actuality I don't hate this guy. He just thinks it's cool that computers can do this and he wanted to show it off. His opinions on work life balance are questionable at best but he is brain washed. I feel sorry for him really. I hope AI or LLMs will eventually become so good that they can do every job in the world. I am rooting for them and that world which seems possible. Anything that frees up time for people to make art or just think creatively is a service to us all.

I struggle am working on believeing in myself. For a long time I thought I had good ideas and was capable but would not follow through out of fear. Fear of what? Well the crazy part is IDK. Partially it was fear of being made fun of and partially it was a fear that I wasn't good enough. But to be 100% honest it was just plain old generic fear. The "not sure why, but I am not going to do that thing" type of fear thats stops me from doing something I know I enjoy. So now I am posting online for validation 🙃 For right now, I feel this is what I should be doing and thus it shall be my divine purpose for the time being.

It feels weird for me to post at all on social media. They all are such shitty enviornments. My own site feels so much more like my space. Its like renting vs owning your home. Renting is great but at a certain point everyone wanst to won their own space. This is my home.
